I missed school I jumped out of bed and ran to the kitchen. A man I've never seen before was lying on the couch, a can of soda in his hands. My mom was no where in sight. Neither was Molly I tiptoed to the kitchen quietly in order to not waken the man. Just as I opened the fridge my mom came flying in through the door. Her hair was combed back in a tight bun and her lips were badly smeared with dark lipstick. She saw me and pursed her lips angrily Stomping towards me, she shoved me into the dining room, away from the mysterious man. "What are you doing here? You're supposed to be in school."l l"My alarm must've broke down," I said. But what I wanted to say was why don't you act like a mom and wake me up yourself? And what is that man doing on the couch? And where were you? And did you actually keep me alone in the house with him? But as usual, those thoughts remained thoughts She gripped my arm tightly and I could feel her nail cling against my bone. She didn't seem to notice how her fingers met across my thin arm. Her eyes were blazing and it was then did it occur to me that she was drunk. Badly drunk l"Well, you should've FIXED it!" She breathed. She stank of beer. My eyes watered and I tried to squirm away, but she had a death grip. Without even knowing it, I could see my arm reddening and blood beginning to clog under my skin l"No one in this house uses that… a stupid excuse to get away from school. Why can't you be like Molly, like…" She stopped abruptly, as if just realizing what she was saying I used my other hand to press down on the scars from yesterday on my hip. I pressed down so hard the pain freshly stung me. Don't cry, I calmly coxed myself. You're a nobody, remember? I looked into my mom's cold eyes Just say it, I screamed inside me. Just say it. Why can't I be pretty and angelic like Molly? Why can't people love me and want to be with me like Molly? Why can't I be smart and organized like Molly? I opened my mouth to say those words, eager to see the expression on her face. To show her I wasn't stupid. To see the surprise then anger spread across her pasty skin. I will not satisfy her and apologize. I will protect my rights l"I'm sorry." I mentally kicked myself very hard when I saw the smug look on her face. She let go of me and smiled sickly l"Now be a good girl and get me some beer," She called over her shoulder, then went and joined the man on the couch Disgusted with myself, I grabbed a can and handed it to her, though my brain told me to smash it against her head. The man was sitting up now, smoking a cigarette. He looked at me mischievously, and opened his mouth to say something, but I was already out of the kitchen running to my room. I was almost grateful for not going to school today. I wouldn't have to face the 'improved' Ricardo. Or the smirks from Jeff of his accomplishment. Or the merry face of Mr. Hamilton. I would just get to be alone I sat on my bed, staring into space, and immediately my molded walls and cramped desk faded from my vision. In place, I was in a beautiful room painted pink. I was lying on the bed reading and playing with my hair when my sister opened the door. She didn't tease me, mock me, or curse me. Instead she sat on my bed and we giggled talking about the boys in our school. Then we heard the cherry voices of our parents (BOTH our parents) calling us for dinner. We ran to the dining table and our dad asked us about our day. Then he said he and the mom we're going out for their anniversary and we had the house to ourselves I was bought back to reality from the shouting. My head zapped upwards and my hands immediately went into a protective stance. But the shouting wasn't at me… It was coming from the kitchen. The man was cursing my mom and she was yelling right back at him. They were arguing out the channel on the TV. I sat motionless, my back stiff. I knew this would happen. But I also knew what would happen next – the thing I regret the most. She would call me and let me stand there and she would throw blames at me. Each blame would hit me and bury itself inside me and I would find my lips repeating the words as they sunk in and hid inside me. I was the problem of everything l"Well, you don't believe me?!" A pause. "It's not my fault! It's always been… Celeste! Celeste, get over here this second!" I could hear my mom yelling and picturing her standing up, her cheeks inflating as her face reddened with fury I wasn't afraid. Because inside, I was still at the dining table, sitting close to my dad. He put an arm over my shoulder and I felt safe. I felt that nothing could hurt me now. My dad was with me My hand moved to the doorknob and I twisted it open. The floor creaked as my weight shifted uncertainly. 'DON'T GO!' My brain was screaming helplessly as my right leg lifted from the ground then came back down inches farther than where it was before. Soon my left leg joined it. I was walking soundlessly. There were no 'click' sounds I reached the kitchen and my mom instantly grabbed a handful of my hair and pulled it so hard I saw stars. The room stank of beer. She wouldn't ever do this to me if she were sober. Then at night when she would come to turn off the light she would cry and hug me, telling me to forgive her, that it was all my dad's fault because he left us. She would tell me I was the best daughter and I didn't deserve any of the blame. And I would be so desperate, I would believe her "Tell Mark what you do," She shrieked at me. Before this it was "tell David what you do" and before that William and before that James. And before that I couldn't remember I could see Mark's eyes glaring at me, his hand on the remote, like a gun. Now, my dad and I were clearing up the table while my mom and my sister were getting a movie. After we loaded the dishwasher, he kissed my forehead, and ruffled my hair "I drive her crazy," I said. "I am the problem she is like this. My mom is the most beautiful and exotic lady every man dreams of. She put down so many men before, I can't keep count. She is afraid I might mess it up, since I am mentally ill. She knows you're the one and I won't bother you because I know she loves you." My mom wants a husband. She can't keep working, she says, it's just not right. She uses me to win over men's hearts for her "You see that stain over there," She says to Mark, and points to a stain where she slammed my head against two weeks ago when I broke her favorite glass pitcher because Molly pushed me. No, I did it because I am a ruthless, ignorant, careless girl trying to ruin her perfect mom's life. Yes, I think those were the words she told me while she repeatedly banged my head against the hard wall "I bought her a cute dress because I thought I loved one man. The day he was coming, I canceled because I knew… I knew he wasn't the one…" My mom sniffed invisible tears. "She heard and she pushed me so hard my head hit the wall." Then she pointed to me, her finger shaking. "The doctor said she needs to go to a padded room. She would kill someone with her bare hands. Her brain does not work and she has no feelings. No feelings at all." She nodded her head in triumph Her last sentence slammed against my chest. I staggered backwards. I have no feelings… Isn't that a… definition of a nobody? Yes… Jeff was right. I have no feelings. So is my mom. That is my problem I looked at my mom like she was the president. "Thank you," I whispered She appeared startled. That wasn't on schedule. I was supposed to just stand there and not say anything. Blinking, she cleared her throat and continued, now reaching the story where I tried to imprison her. Mark's eyes were wide in sympathy. He reached out and took my mom's hand. Just like all the others In my head my REAL family was cuddled around me and we were watching a movie. But that world fogged up. I couldn't go back to it. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't see my dad or mom's face again. I felt lost all of a sudden. This wasn't my family. No, this isn't Words were crashing together in my brain. Nobody. Feelings. Family. Love. Death. Death. Death. Death My finger tenderly touched the swollen place between my thighs. The pain… I didn't feel it. Because hurt is a feeling. And I don't have feelings Now Mark and my mom were kissing. I was supposed to stay and yell at my mom and pull her away, just like we agreed. But I didn't. Instead, I ran to the kitchen and grabbed the biggest knife we owned. Then I went to my room and threw some clothes into a bag. I opened the window and jumped out Just as my feet made signal with the floor, I took off running. I ran past Haden Park and past my school. It was dismissal and the kids were pouring out. I went and hid behind a tree and looked down at the knife and looked at my sweaty wrist. I had to test this Biting my lip, I placed the sharp tip of the knife on my wrist. Just as I was about to dig in, my life in my head came back. We were still watching, but my dad was talking to me. He was talking to me as my mom and sister cried at the sad ending of the movie. His hand touched mines and squeezed it. And the words that came out of his mouth rang in my brain as if someone was yelling them in my face You are special, I can feel it. One day you will change the world. Don't let anything come between you and your fate. And know there are people who love you I looked down at the knife. The knife… it was between me and my fate. But I don't have a fate l"That's just your imagination," I hissed under my breath. My hand tightened around the knife blade and I brought it down slowly, but hard. The bright red liquid ran fast down my arm, as if eager to escape the deadly hallows in me. It ran and ran and ran until it mixed in with my shirt. My brain was sending me pain signals, but I forced them away. I couldn't feel it. I had no feelings. I was a nobody The deeper I plunged the knife, the more I began to doubt myself. I couldn't go through. No, I just couldn't. I was born… I was born for a reason. Who created me? As I watched the blood drip on the dry leaves, the word popped in my head. God. God. What was a god? Yes, my mom always talked about god… she always says god hates the word-doers. Am I doing something wrong? If god created me he knew he didn't create something that was going to kill itself. I would've just remained… dead. Not born. Or born to a different family… in a different place The knife was scraping up my arm now, leaving thick blood running through my fingers. Suddenly, I threw the knife away and stared at my arm You are special…. One day you will change the world Yes. YES! I looked down at my arm but couldn't see it. It was coated in layers of blood. Only then did the pain hit me. It hit me so hard. It seemed to wrap itself around my body and squeeze the life out of me My ocean… The Ocean inside me seemed to pour out of my nose and ears… No, not my ocean. It couldn't leave me Half the Ocean was a lot of water. I could see it flooding the streets and kids screaming for their parent's. Helicopters and police cars raced, trying to save the people who couldn't swim all asking the same question: Where was this water coming from I was drowning. I could see bubbles forming at my nose as more water surged out. I could hear kids crying. A motionless body floated besides me. It was a little girl. Her eyes were open and terrified. She was still alive. Her mouth opened and even though no voice came out I could see the message clearly as if written in red marker Help me! Help me! Her eyes never left me even as she floated away. I couldn't help her. I just couldn't because… because… no one ever helped me. I don't know who to help people. I could apologize though. I apologized and I watched the apology swim towards her but then another body came and blocked its way. My mom. I thought she was dead. But the dead couldn't smirk And finally when I thought I couldn't take it anymore the knife swam towards me and slammed right against my chest. It easily broke through my feeble ribs and the molded doors slammed, trying to keep the knife out of their cemetery. Words were running away, trying desperately to stay inside me. I could hear Molly's taunting voice. I could hear my mom's voice telling me over and over: YOU ARE THE PROBLEM! I could hear the whispering and laughing of the students from my school. And you know what? The knife went through me. But it didn't cut them. They survived. And long after the darkness closed on me, I could hear every one of them. They were taunting me. What was I doing? They would never leave me. But one voice silenced the others and I heard it booming through my ears. It misguided the knife from the off-button of my heart l"…but you're going nowhere… Trying to find your way home but there's no one there… Who do you hold in the dark of night? You wanna give up but it's worth the fight…"l Give up already, my inside voices said. Give up I tried. I tried. I'm sorry …. Next Part next week! Tell me what you think. Travail pour ce jour la ولا تدخر جهداَ et n'économise aucun effort واعمل عملاَ يدخلك الجنه et fais ce qui te mène au paradis ويبيض وجهك أمام الله يوم تلقاه ليحاسبك et ce qui blanchi ton visage devant Allah le jour ou tu le verras pour ton rapport وإلا فإن جهنم هي المأوى .... ... sinon c'est l'enfer qui sera ton refuge واعلم أن الله كما أنه غفور رحيم هو أيضا شديد العقاب et sache que comme Allah et clément et miséricordieux, il est aussi sévère dans ses châtiments فلا تأخذ صفه alors n'adopte pas un comportement وتنسى الأخرى .... ... pour oublier un autre إن [عزيزى الزائر لايمكنك مشاهده الروابط الا بعد التسجيل للتسجيل اضغط هنا] محباً للخير والمشاركة في الأجر والثواب مرر هذة الرسالة إلى إخوانك ومحبيك etsi tu aime le bien, et la participation dans la récompense, fais passerce message à tes frères et sœurs et tous ceux que tu aime قال رسولنا الكريم صلى الله notre généreux prophète (S) a dit: عليه وسلم : ' الدال على الخير كفاعله ' 'Celui qui montre le bien, est comme celui qui le fait' أشياء لن يسألك الله عنها des choses à propos desquelles tu ne sera pas questionné لن يسألك ما نوع السيارة التي تقودها ....... .... Allah ne te demandera pas quel type de voiture tu as بل سيسألك كم شخصا نقلت بسيارتك ولم تكن لديه وسيلة مواصلات mais, combien de personne sans moyen de transport tu as transporté لن يسألك كم مساحة بيتك ..... بل سيسألك كم شخصا استضفت فيه ne te demandera pas quelle est la superficie de ta maison, mais combien d'invités tu as reçus dedans, لن يسألك كم كان راتبك ... بل سيسألك كيف أنفقته ومن اين اكتسبته il ne te demandera pas ton salaire, mais dans quoi tu l'as dépensé لن يسألك ما هو مسماك الوظيفي ... بل سيسألك كيف أديت عملك بقدر ما ne te demande pas ton grade au travail, mais te demandera comment tu l'as accompli تستطيع لن يسألك كم لك صديقاً بل سيسألك كم اخاً لك في الله.
